The Wait was the reconstituted version of Bootleg. The line up remained the same except for new drummer Jamie LaSala. But the biggest change was in the overall tone of the music.
We don't know whether the reason was a desire to change their image, or an actual darkening of the bands personal worldview, but the tone of their music became tortured and pessimistic as opposed to Bootlegs more positive optimism.
The results of this change drove vocalist Diane Ward to places with her voice that were intense and amazing, with the band pushing their limits to convey the anguish contained in the lyrics.
Some older Bootleg tunes were reworked with mixed results, while new songs like “For My Baby” and “Edge Of The World” show how their new depth could result in greater heights.
