On any given night on the scene in the late eighties you could either of these bands. It could be Flynns, 27 Birds, Churchill's or any number of smaller clubs that hosted original music for a brief period of time.
RBT came to SoFla by way of Binghamton, NY. They played New Wave Pop/ Rock 'n' Roll. Songs were written by vocalist Chip Shane (of the poofy bleach blond hair) and guitarist Steve Behil, along with Scott Fansler, a great bassist, and Jim Darden on drums.
Meanwhile Vespersparrow was launched in SoFla as an all female group. Kelly Christy was rhythm guitarist and vocalist with a distinct Stevie Nicks-type vibe. Carolyn Colachicco has been and as far as we can tell always will be the drummer.
At this early stage however Rose Gargiulo was lead guitarist. On bass and vocals was Mary Karlzen who later left the band and met with some solo success. Her song “Come November” featured here is probably her earliest recorded original composition.
