If you wanna talk Cichlids,
let's get one thing out of the way. The reason these guys were the only
band in the late 70s SoFla punk scene to be released on a national label
can be summed up in two words: Robert Mascaro. Don't get us wrong, we
love the Cichlids. There's just nothing like a short, irritating non-band
member (aka manager) to push, pull and drag a band beyond where it can,
or even wants, to normally go.
With that out of the way we'd like to note that this edition features
the unreleased tracks from the B-side of the Cichlids more-or-less unreleased
single as well as a radio interview done with the band on Miami's K-102
station at the time of the album's release. Although most would agree
that the band probably lost a little in its translation to a (semi-)
major label act, we still enjoy listening to what Debbie
Mascaro, Alan Portman, Susan Robbins and Bobby Tak did, and tried
to do with their one shot at stardom.
Let's Go Menial, NOW!
