For our analog-to-digital conversions, Moss Music uses Audiocorder on the Macintosh system. This software is highly recommended by us as an effective, inexpensive way to preserve and rescue recorded sound from the perils of time and magnetic tape.

For remastering, eq, noise (hiss) removal and reduction we use Amadeus II software. Again, it's inexpensive but very powerful. The "dehiss" (noise reduction) function alone peeled years of age from many of our recordings. That, combined with sophisticated filters for sound enhancement, filterering and normalizing, accounts for the very existence of these CDs. Without thes two programs the Pete Moss Memorial All Night Record Shop would never have seen the light of day.

The sounds are converted from analog to AIFF files (not MP3s). AIFF is the standard for CD sound recording and does not compress or otherwise alter the sound. Therefore Moss Music CDs caputure the full dynamic range of the music without the ugly "flutter" and "squeeze" that sometimes occur with compressed sound formats.

We package the CDs in slim-line jewel cases and print the inserts on heavyweight stock with an HP Business Inkjet 2250.
